Our Story

We are sisters, Preeti and Roshni, second-generation migrants from Kerala, born and raised in Delhi. "Thadi," meaning wood in Malayalam, is what grounds our work. A material with grain, warmth, and presence.

Preeti is an interior designer who has spent over two decades shaping homes that are thoughtful, functional, and deeply personal and designing furniture to meet the residents' needs and aspirations. Roshni runs a communications firm and is a writer whose homes have always housed local designs and refurbished pieces.

We began restoring pieces for our own home. Over time, this became our rhythm. The joy of finding a good piece and shaping its next chapter. Through Thadi, we continue restoring old pieces (Re:Thadi), while we build new ones (ThadiMade), and help shape lived-in, layered spaces (ThadiSpaces).

Welcome to Thadi. Thank you for stopping by.

Warmly

How we make (ThadiMade)

One piece at a time

At Thadi, we make slowly and deliberately. Each collection begins with a few sample pieces. We design, build, refine, and photograph these to understand their proportions and presence. These become the anchors for the collection. Every chair that follows is made to order. One piece at a time. Customisable.

We choose this model because it keeps us close to our work. It lets us maintain quality, avoid waste, and adjust details thoughtfully as we go. It also means we produce only what is needed, not what fills a warehouse. When you order from Thadi, you’re supporting a slower, more intentional way of making. One that values care over scale, and presence over speed.

How we restore (Re:Thadi)

Restoring old furniture is where Thadi began.

When we find a piece , we study its structure, design and the life it has already lived. Restoration for us is about bringing back its balance and integrity.

We repair joints, revive wood, re-cane or re-upholster where needed, and keep as much of the original character intact as possible. The goal is simple: return the piece to everyday use, without losing what makes it meaningful.

Holding on, gently.

How we design
(Thadi Spaces)

Homes designed with people at the centre.

Our approach to space begins with people, their rhythms, habits, comforts, and the things that matter to them. Before choosing materials or layouts, we try to understand their everyday life: how someone rests, gathers, cooks, works, or simply moves through a room.

For us, design is not about filling a home but about listening to it and building a dialogue between people and material.  We work gently, paying attention to proportion, light, texture, and flow, so the home supports its people without overwhelming them.
